I'm planning to improve the Wilson site by enabling a Search Window for the website only.
I plan to pursue that venture today.

Letters continue to pour in from visitors to the website. I'm trying to find the time to answer all of them and to post as many as I can.
I've heard from reading groups that are tackling all of Mr. Wilson's plays, from a mother who wanted to know where she could purchase all ten plays, and a variety of students seeking help with papers.
Please know that I do my best to answer each and every email; however, the volume has increased to the point where it's become increasingly difficult to respond in a timely manner.
Therefore, if you've sent an email and I do not respond for a few weeks, please be patient. My intention is to answer each query.
Please continue to write!
Thanks,
Dr. D.

Good news: I have been putting a lot of time and energy into my book on August Wilson. I hope to complete the manuscript by the end of August and begin shopping for a publisher. I have completed approximately 165 pages and am currently in the process of revising and tightening.
Actually, I intend to write at least two books on August Wilson: one on his first five plays and another on the second five.
My thesis for the first two books draws upon the work of Henry Louis Gates, Jr. and views Wilson as a mythmaker for African Americans. Gates writes, "By forging value, by solidifying meaning, the black poet, in his or her own way, forges myth." I take up Gates' line of thought and apply it to the drama of August Wilson, providing a close reading of the characters and motifs in Wilson's plays.

I have received several emails recently announcing the production of Radio Golf on Broadway; therefore, I have decided to publish the link below as a public service announcement. I receive no revenue for publishing this link and do so only to raise awareness of when and where Mr. Wilson's plays are being produced (a hot topic amongst my readership).
Follow this link for more information: Radio Golf on Broadway.

From 2005...
On the death of Mr. Wilson...
[10/2/05] Mournfully, his bright light shines no more. The man who made us laugh, made us cry, and gave the world tremendous insight into the rich world of African American music, culture, and values passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2005 at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, WA. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Mr. Wilson was 60.
I have received numerous emails over the past 24 hours; I'm sure I will receive more. I plan to create a separate tribute page at some point, but I'm feeling too sad to do that right now.
Please continue to send emails. I think it's important for us to share our grief and appreciation for a man who has worked so hard to share so much.

[8/28/05] It is with great sadness that I report that Mr. August Wilson is dying from liver cancer. Doctors thought a transplant might save his life; however, apparently the disease has advanced to a lethal stage. Without some sort of miracle, Mr. Wilson has less than six months to live. For details concerning this tragic situation, please click here.
Since news of Mr. Wilson's illness swept across the Internet, I have received a number of emails expressing love and support for August and his family. The most current address I have for Mr. Wilson is:
Mr. August Wilson
Suite 301
600 First Ave.
